Alma has lived most of her life on the East Coast.  She is originally from Baltimore, MD and was very comfortable with her life there.

A few years ago Alma had to make a decision, move in with her daughter in California or with her son in New Jersey.

“Naturally I chose to move in with my son,” she said. “New Jersey is still on the East Coast and it seemed like the most logical place to transition to.”

As circumstances would have it, Alma ended up staying with her daughter and son-in-law in Davis, CA for a temporary period until appropriate accommodations could be made in New Jersey.

While she was in Davis she received care from her primary physician, Internist David DaSilva, M.D. and Urologist, Kenneth Ferguson, M.D. at Sutter West Medical Group.

“Both of my doctors are extraordinary,” she said. “I don’t have words to explain how wonderful they treat their patients.  They are the type of people who radiate competence and kindness.”

After a few months Alma had all her moving arrangements for New Jersey in order, but an unexpected health condition kept her in Davis.  She had to have surgery at Sutter Davis Hospital Surgery Center and wouldn’t be able to make the move to the East Coast until she was healed.

“When I went to the surgery center at Sutter I was very impressed by the care I received,” Alma said.  “Everyone that worked there seemed genuinely concerned about how I felt; they always asked if I was comfortable or if I needed anything.”

When Alma was fully recovered, the time came to relocate. But after all the wonderful care she had received she decided to stay in Davis.

“I would feel terrible losing this type of care and service,” she said, “I was so impressed by everyone at Sutter and all the amazing technologies that I just couldn’t leave.  You don’t find care like this everywhere.”
